Greetings from JV!
Born in Miami but raised in Southern California. JV has been handling dogs his whole life, and is proud to share that, at 31 years young, he has chosen the career path of K9 training and counseling! JV’s journey began as an 11-year-old boy when his parents allowed him to adopt his first Soul Dog named Rossco, a 10-week-old terrier mix. Rossco was a stray in need of a home, and JV believed they both found each other for a reason. Rossco and JV were like glue, stuck to each other. Growing up, their home life was very "ruff," and Rossco ended up developing serious behavior issues as a result. JV took matters into his own hands. Once JV was old enough to leave home, he found ways to rehabilitate Rossco and give him a better life. JV turned Rossco’s life around using behavior modification methods, with no prior experience. Throughout the years their bond grew even more and Rossco watched his family grow when JV had his two daughters. Rossco passed away in 2020 at nearly 17 years old. JV had a gaping hole in his heart during this time and just knew he had to do more for these beautiful creatures.

In 2022, JV and his wife adopted their next Soul Dog named Roxy. She taught JV how to properly train dogs from the start. Rather than waiting to be presented with behavioral issues. JV quickly realized that Roxy, a Great Pyrenees/Pit/Border Collie mix, which required more training. JV immersed himself in learning how to be the best possible pet parent. Quickly becoming obsessed with the art of dog training, influenced by Tom Davis, Cesar Milan, Joanna Stanford, Joel Beckman, Garett Wing, and more. Once he realized his potential, JV decided to dedicate his life to helping pet parents avoid recreating the same mistakes that were made with Rossco. Taking what he’s learned over the years to helping his fellow humans understand what it means to create a better relationship with their dogs.
Together as one, JV believes it is his duty to help people keep their pups in their forever homes for the sake of achieving a higher vibration on this planet we all call home. Since Roxy has been in his life, he has trained hundreds of dogs at multiple facilities, as well as personal clients. JV is happy to now be a part of this wonderful team at OffLeashK9 and looks forward to meeting your soul doggies! His mission is to help people learn how to “speak dog”!
