Pupdates:
Goose, a one year old Golden Retriever, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Goose comes to us knowing commands but not always following them if distracted. He doesn’t walk properly on leash, jumps to greet, lacks a solid recall. The owners say that he is a thief, counter surfing and eating things he’s not suppose to. Over the two weeks Goose will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Today Goose and I went to the park to work on his commands. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We worked on all his commands. Heel was the command we worked on the most. It is still a work in progress but he is walking much better; staying close to my side and focusing on where I am walking. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Goose could work around dog distractions. He was a bit distracted at first but as we continued to train he settled down and focused on his commands. Goose had a great first day of training! Above is a tutorial video for the ecollar. I didnt get to send you home with one, but please watch this video as many times as you need to beckemfamiliar with the training collar.

He is doing better with the Heel command. We are able to walk with a loose leash and Goose is walking nicely on my left side, focusing on me and where I am going.

Today Goose and I went to the park to work on his obedience. Goose did very well. He was focused and obedient. We worked on his distance and duration. He does well holding his commands as I move around him, but when I try to distance myself from Goose, he will break command to come close to me. We will continue to work on it. He did very well with his heel command. Goose was able to leash drag while we walked around, staying right at my side the entire time. Once we tighten up his commands and get the distance down, we will try working semi-off leash.

Today Goose and I went to the outdoor mall to work on his obedience. He did pretty well with his training. For the most part he was focused and obedient. He sat nicely and patiently as a few people approached and pet him. The only thing we struggled with was bird distractions. Goose tried to pull me to chase after a few birds, but after working on his commands around them he was able to ignore the birds. We did some semi-off leash heeling. Goose had a few admirers that complimented him on his good behavior.

Today Goose stayed out of the rain and trained at home. We worked on all his commands and worked on his duration. I had my sister who assisted me with training Goose. She had Goose work on his door manners, teaching him to not pass thresholds until given permission. Just because we open the door does not mean he can run or bolt out. He needs to wait until we give me the heel command to follow us out. We need a little more practice with this, but Goose is getting the hang of it.

Today Goose and I took a drive up to Venice Beach to work on his commands around distractions. It was pretty busy and very windy, which made a little difficult for him to focus in the beginning. As we walked around Goose settled down and followed his commands. He did great around all the people and dog distractions. Even with the bird distractions Goose was able to ignore them and hold his commands.
