Remington, a Dutch Shepherd from Bellflower, CA went through the Balanced Canine Training SoCal 3 Week Board & Train dog training program. Remington was trained by dog trainer Amanda Lascari in La Habra Heights, CA .
Remington, a 7 month old Dutch Shepher, has joined Offleash SoCal for our 3 week board and train program. Remington is a sweet girl, once she opens up and lets you get to know her. She isn’t to friendly to new people. She will growl and bark them. Same with dogs, she will growl bark and snap at them until she decides to warm up to them. She’s defiant at times and will follow commands when she feel like it. Over the next 3 weeks Remington will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Today I introduced and conditioned Remington to the ecollar. We started practicing commands come and sit. We also practiced the place command. Place is a great command for building confidence, as well as teaching Remington to be calm and relaxed. Remington did a great job for her first day of training. She is doing okay with my family, the only time she has barked at them is when they walk by her while she is in the crate. She's getting along great with the rest of the dogs. Every once in awhile she will snap at them if they get into her space.

Remington practicing place and down commands. We also worked on come to sit and the heel command. It was a bit hot today so we waited until it cooled down and went to a local walking trail to train. She did growl or bar when she would see people walk by with dogs, but i would correct her and we practiced looking to me if they would walk by.

Today Remington and I went to the park to practice commands. Remington practiced come to sit, place, and down. We started working on the heel command. It’s still a work in progress, but she is walking much better. She stays at my side, but will start to pull ahead Every once in awhile. Very proud of her, she is doing an amazing job with her obedience training!

Today Remi and I went to Home Depot to work on her commands around distractions. We tried to do some off leash work but she was a little too nervous and couldn’t focus. That’s okay, it was her first big outing with a lot of different noises, smells, people etc. But we will keep practicing and I know she will build up more confidence and not be so fearful. We practiced heel, come to sit, down, and place.

Today Remington and I worked on her off leash commands around the neighborhood. We practiced off leash heel, come to sit, and duration down/sit. After her training she made a new human and doggie friend. I took her to a friends house. She did pretty good when first meeting them. She didn’t bark or shy away from my friend. She wasn’t too sure about Blue, the Pitbull, but she ended up warming up to her pretty quick and began to play with her.

Remington practicing duration work at a local church. She is doing an amazing job with her off leash obedience! We also practice commands during feeding time. This is a great for teaching her focus on me and not the food. She needs to be calm and wait for me to give her permission to eat her meal.

Remington is doing a great job with her off leash obedience. Now we are starting to practice for her canine good citizen test. In order to pass, Remi must pass all 10 items. We are still working on her timidness and barking around new people, but she is doing a lot better.

Today Remi was my little helper, showing her buddy, Osyris, how to do the heel command. Osyris just started this week for his 3 week board and train. She helped be a distraction for him, since they love playing and wrestling with each other at the house. she had to teach him how to properly act out in public. Remi practiced her distant recalls, off leash heel, place and under commands.
