Meer Thor! Thor is a 7 month old Shepherd/Husky Mix from Torrance, CA and he is joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program! Thor needs help shaping his basic obedience as well as how to properly walk on leash. He gets a bit distracted when passing by people and dogs. Overall, Thor is a sweet and loving boy who is ready to learn. Stay tuned for his 14 day transformation.

Thor and I spent majority of the day getting to know each other. He was really shy at first and was a little hesitant to do anything but soon opened up. He was a little anxious and would get a bit spooked when he saw other people or dogs. After a couple of minutes he seemed to calm down. We then worked on introducing the e-collar. He did such a great job and was able to pick up on it quickly. He worked on his heel today since he does pull heavily on leash. He is slowly learning and is already doing great. Thor did have a bit of trouble when we came home and he was introduced to the kennel. He did have a hard time settling and was whining a bit but soon relaxed and took a much needed nap from today activities. Overall, Thor is doing great on his first day. He did eat only half of his food but that could be due to him being in a new environment and being a bit anxious.

Thor and I spent the day working on his heel around my neighborhood. He was a bit spooked by some of the Halloween decorations that were outside of some of the houses. He wouldn’t want to walk past them or would try and bite the leash a bit. We worked on his ‘come to sit’ today as well and he did struggle getting into the right position. We’re slowly working on it but he is doing such a great job! He ate all of his food and went potty like normal.

Thor and I spent the day working on building his confidence. He really struggles jumping on and off of objects such as my car. We worked on exposing him to different surfaces since he didn’t like walking over them. He is slowly improving on his ‘come to sit’ but still needs to work on his placement. Overall, Thor is really coming out of his shell and is being a good boy!

Thor spent some time training around other trainers and their pups. He struggled in the beginning working around other dogs since he wanted to walk up to everyone. After some time, Thor did such a great job ignoring the other pups and gained a lot more confidence when working on his ‘place’. He is doing such a great job and is improving every day. He was able to jump into the car kennel today without any help!

Thor and I went to Cheviot Hills today to work on all of his commands. He was really struggling to go in a ‘down’ and at times he would refuse to go in a ‘down’. Thor was able to work along side my personal dog and was able to heel with her on his side without him being overly excited. Thor did such a great job with dog distractions today and is doing great with his heel! Overall, Thor is improving everyday and is gaining more confidence.

Thor and I spent some time working alongside other trainers and their pups. Thor is doing a lot better being around other dogs and is even gaining for confidence. I do notice he tends to be a little more uncomfortable around other dogs but will ignore them if they’re not too close. He is struggling with his ‘down’. He knows how to get into the position but at times will refuse to go into it unless I ask him a couple of times. Overall, Thor is being such a good boy and is learning so much!

Thor and I worked on all of his commands today! We slowly introduced durations since he tends to want to get up from his sitting position and follow me. He is doing a lot better and was able to hold his ‘down’ for over a minute. We’re working on working him up to a full two minutes. He was able to work with another trainer as well. He was a bit uncomfortable in the beginning but seemed to warm up them quickly. Overall, Thor is doing such a great job.

Thor and I spent some time working on his ‘heel’ with the leash dragging. He definitely knows how to ‘heel’ and doesn’t try to pull me or go ahead of me. He does struggle when it comes to passing by other dogs since he tends to want to play or get spooked. Thor is getting the hang of holding his ‘sit’ and his ‘down’ but still struggles on holding them for longer periods of time. Overall, Thor is doing such a great job and was able to enjoy some time roaming around my home. He did try to put his paws up on my counter when I was giving him dinner but after working on it for a bit he did a lot better and was able to relax!

Thor worked on all of his commands around a dog park. He was a bit spooked by all of the barking dogs but was able to get the hang of doing his commands around them. He did have a bit of trouble with his ‘come to sit’ when there was little to no leash pressure but did a great job at ‘heeling’. Since it started to rain we worked on some of his home manners such as food and door. He did struggle a lot with his ‘door manners’ but did great with his ‘food manners’. Thor is still a little timid but is coming out of his shell. We were able to do some ‘heel’ with the leash dragging and he did amazing! Thor did get a little muddy at the park so I cleaned him with some wipes!

Thor and I spent some time working on all of his commands. He is getting better at loose leash walking but still gets a bit nervous when walking by other dogs. He wants to walk up to the dogs we pass at times especially if he feels uncomfortable. He is doing so much better with his ‘down’ and doesn’t need much convincing to go down and hold it. Thor is doing so much better but still struggles with his insecurity and confidence. When we go into a new area he seems to want to almost crawl and he’s frantic with his movements. We’re working on getting him to be a lot better so we can move forward with him being off leash.

Thor worked on all of his commands today with the leash dragging! He did a great job working around the other dogs but does need to be corrected when he walks by them. He tends to get stiff and will stare at them until they pass. Thor is doing great with his extended commands but still needs help holding them for a bit longer. He will get up if he’s feeling unsure or uncomfortable. Overall, Thor is a great boy and is doing amazing!

Thor and I went to a Citadel Outlets where we worked on all of his commands off leash. He did great but got really spooked when we went into a couple of stores. He would crouch in the ground and try to follow me around. Thor is doing great overall and was able to follow through with them all around distractions. He did get spooked when a couple of shopping bags got a bit to close to him but he did great. Thor is such a good boy and is learning so much.

Thor and I went to Santa Monica Pier where he was able to work on his off leash heel! He did such a great job and was able to ignore passing people and dogs. He did get a bit spooked whenever strollers would pass by but did great overall. Thor is such a good boy and has imporved so much! He ate all of his breakfast and dinner and enjoyed some play time!

Thor and I spent the day working on all of his commands at a local park. He spent some time relaxing in my home and was able to take a couple naps! We worked on his home manners and his heel around my neighborhood and he did great! He used to care about the cats and was always spooked but he didn’t pay any attention to them today! He is such a good boy and can’t wait to show you all he’s learned!
